Lafayette Catholic Service Centers, Inc. established in 1973, is the parent organization for eight diocesan sponsored programs providing vital services to the poor and homeless of Acadiana. These programs include St. Joseph Diner, St. Joseph Shelter for Men, Msgr. Sigur Service Center, Msgr. Sigur Thrift Store, New Life Thrift Store, Bishop O'Donnell Transitional Housing, New Life Center and New Life Child Care Center.
LCSC's mission is to provide human services, which reflect Gospel values and the Church's commitment to preserve, enhance and support human life, with a special concern for the poor, hungry and the homeless of Acadiana.

St. Joseph Diner

St. Joseph Diner prepares and serves an average of 200 breakfast
and lunch meals each day. The Diner also delivers meals to the
homebound and provides bread and assorted goods to the elderly
on a daily basis. During the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas
holiday seasons, food baskets are distributed to low income households.
St. Joseph Shelter for Men

St. Joseph Shelter for Men provides emergency and transitional
housing for up to 46 homeless men per night. Residents participate
in case management where they are assisted with obtaining employment,
applying for mainstream benefits and obtaining permanent housing.
Residents are provided with hot meals, transportation, laundry
facilities, hygiene products and clothing. AA/NA support groups
are held in the evenings at the shelter for those residents with
chemical dependencies.
Msgr. Sigur Service Center

The Msgr. Sigur Service Center offers emergency aid to individuals
experiencing crisis by paying rent, utilities and medical expenses
(prescriptions, eyeglasses, etc.) The Center also administers
seasonal programs such as Toys for Tots, Coats for Kids and Adopt
a Family.

The Msgr. Sigur and New Life Thrift Stores provide clothing, toys,
furniture and household items to the local community at minimal
cost or free through our voucher system.
Bishop O'Donnell Transitional Housing

Bishop O'Donnell Transitional Housing provides temporary housing
and supportive services for up to eight homeless families, mothers
with children, at any given point in time. A furnished apartment
is available for each family for a period of two years while they
work towards self-sufficiency.
New Life Center

The New Life Center, located in Opelousas, provides emergency shelter, transitional housing and supportive services for up to 37 homeless women and 31 children per night. All residents participate in case management where they are assisted with applying for mainstream benefits, entering school, obtaining employment and permanent housing. Residents also attend life skills sessions, job counseling and are referred to outside agencies for additional counseling. A chemical dependency program is also available for those women recovering from alcohol and/or drug addictions. All residents are provided with three meals a day, transportation, prescription assistance, clothing, diapers and toiletries.
New Life Center Child Care
This program provides child care services for residents of the
New Life Center with children under 4 years of age. This allows
the residents to attend school or work while their children are
appropriately supervised and are engaged in educational activities.
